Posterous' strength is in its ability to interpret the emails you send, and reformat the content to look good on the web.For example, if you send an email with a bunch of email attachments, Posterous will automatically create a nice photo gallery.

Posterous blogs can easily act as an extension to an existing site. Here's a pretty good example.

Posterous also has a strong Group functionality - so it can act as a collaborative platform, enabling a group to post and share content while maintaining privacy.

Tumblr is blogging on steroids. Not only can it act as an extremely flexible blogging platform, but it is successfully expanding into multiple directions:

- automatically feed into multiple social networks (becoming a common capability for blogs)

- automatically grabbing your posts from *other* social networks (Tweets, Facebook posts) and entering them into yoru Tumblr blog

- integrated RSS feeds

- Social layer on top of Tumblr. You can participate in the Tumblr community and follow other users

- New messaging platform to replace email
